  • im just curious how do u guys comfortably fly to these cons? as in comfortable to go alone. do your parents care? im 20 and i feel like they'd freak out. i still live with them so yeah and i only flown once. but i wanna go places i dont know how to do this alone tho
  • well, the first time I went to a con alone was for dccon, it was a few months ago and I was only 18 at the time and still in high school. I suggested it to my mom and I didn’t expect her to say yes but she did! honestly… going alone is scary, my dad dropped me off at the airport and i ended up calling my mom so she could walk me through what to do lol. I had gone to seattle like the week before but in that moment I literally just forgot everything about flying even tho I do it a lot with my family. I ended up going through security (after I was asked for my age multiple times, like yes I look younger than I am :( ) and went to my gate and ended up waiting! it was easy enough tbh, after getting through security of course. but then I got to DC, I was overwhelmed, it was SOO busy and I had no idea where to go so I just ended up just following a bunch of people and found the place where the hotel shuttle comes and takes u to the hotel (most of the cons i’ve been to have free shuttles that’ll pick u up from the airport so that’s the best) but when I finally go to the hotel, it was worth it :) I met up with my friends, settled into the hotel room with them and we did our own thing, ive been to two cons before that with my parents but being alone, you have more freedom and yeah sometimes it’s scary but as long as you have friends with you, it’s great. 3 months after that, I went to vegascon alone and holy shit, I had connecting flight, that was scary too but I guess it gets easier once you do it a couple more times, just don’t be afraid to ask for help while you’re at the airport and always have friends you’re gonna meet up with ! 💓💕 ps. my mom is pretty strict but since i’m responsible, she trusts me, same with my dad. I let them track my phone while I was away so they knew where I was at all time and I called or texted them whenever I could!
